RECENT PROJECTS

Contemporary House, Kingswood, Surrey

A wonderful project that brought its own challenges during COVID, which lasted about 18 months from inception, and was a complete house rebuild. Being involved at initial concept stage enabled us to discuss interior design aspects that would affect the architectural design during the construction phase, which made a significant difference to the overall outcome of what could be achieved within the client's concept for the interior. Curtain tracking could be hidden within ceilings affirming their height, layering of lighting could dramatise specific features and the consideration given to window installation resulted in a well thought out process for the window dressings.

The design was masculine, contemporary in feel, with sleek hard lines that contrasted cleverly with the use of luxurious fabrics for the soft furnishings. Muted tones and understated textures were used to emphasise the quality of materials, contrasting with the drama found in the book-matched marbling on the walls. And then there was the Art...bright, bold and extremely modern pieces that clashed brilliantly with its gentle surround,  stamping a sense of humour throughout the interior.

Meticulous attention was given to the soft furnishings, with a focus on 'less in more'. Curtains hung from sleek Bradley Gliderpoles that were colour matched to the wall's paintwork. Curtain headings were given a contemporary feel with Cartridge headings and single voiles swept across sizeable windows on Wave-headed tracks. Elegant tie-backs drew back curtains into regular folds and discrete pelmets hid mechanisms when there was an absence of curtains poles.

It was a joy to work with the owner on this project and we are currently at design stage for his next property in London, which carries a very different brief - paying respect to its Victorian roots.

"Thank you Emma, for the lovely work you have created for my home. I had a fairly clear idea of the look I wanted to achieve but didn’t know where to start looking when it came to matching fabrics, paints and papers together. You've provided a wealth of expertise and by creating design boards for me, you've helped me visualise how it will look. All the soft furnishings work beautifully within the house and I am so happy with the result. I really appreciate you resolving issues without me even needing to comment, and the installation was a smooth process too."
